At Bontact, we know that nothing converts like contact. The best way to convert an ecommerce visitor to a customer is to provide immediate and personal contact to answer his questions. And chat is the most popular channel for customer contact. At the same time, a typical e-commerce business is operating on a tight budget. So we assembled some free chat WordPress plugins that let e-commerce sites text free online with site visitors.
We’d be remiss not to mention our app, available as a WordPress plugin (as well as Shopify app, Squarespace plugin, etc). With the free version, you get unlimited free chat and email contacts, as well as 50 free SMS and callback contacts per month for your visitors to get their questions answered however they want. You can set up two chat agents on the free and lite accounts, and three on the business account. You can also see who’s on your site and where they’re from, as well as start chats with them for proactive customer service. Setup takes less than three minutes.
Check out our reviews on WordPress.org. You don’t have to take my word for it. We really put our heart into this one.
This San Diego-based startup offers a free chat
version with one chat agent and 30 free chat or email contacts per months. The premium versions, starting at $8 per month and going up to $40, offer increasing amounts of chat/email contacts, chat agents and support. Formilla gets very high marks from users for ease of use and installation, and good support. Real-time analytics (seeing who’s on your site ) and proactive customer service (reaching out to them before they reach out to you) are also available with Formilla.
Olark is a startup based in San Francisco. It is really one of the veterans of the online chat widget market. Olark has a free plan that lets you have 20 monthly conversations with visitors. Olark also allows you to see who is on your site and reach out to them proactively. Paid plans go from $15 to $219 per month and allow you p to 15 chat agents. It also has tons of integrations, including Salesforce, SugarCRM, Google Analytics and Zendesk.
Owned by Zendesk and based out of Singapore, Zopim is another veteran of the online live chat support game. The free plan allows one chat agent, and unlimited chats. Paid plans go from $11 to $44 per chat agent per month, with pretty extensive real-time analytics. Management of the WordPress plugin takes place outside the WP dashboard, while chats are received inside it, so be warned.
My Live Chat, produced by CuteSoft Components, a Canadian software company, has unlimited chats, with archives going back 3 years and one chat agent for its free plan. Paid plans start at $15 per month and go up to $99. Like the other apps we’ve discussed, it has real-time visitor analytics and proactive customer service. If you’re looking for a reliable WordPress free chat plugin for your website, MyLiveChat is a good way to go.
